What We Do

The Pacific Islands Trade and Investment Commission (NZ) was established to contribute to the sustainable economic development of the Pacific Island Forum countries by promoting trade and investment with New Zealand.

Therefore 'Trade Promotion' is at the core 'what we do' as the organization's trade division. We help facilitate the market penetration of new and existing Pacific Island products. This approach to trade development ensures that PITIC complements rather than duplicate the present work undertaken by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat who focus on the facilitation of regional trade and international trade relations respectively.

Objectives of the PITIC Trade Division

The NZ PITIC Trade Division has three main objectives in relation to assisting trade development initiative geared toward the NZ market:

As such, PITIC NZ has formulated three categories which correspond to these objectives:

Information support network: To inform Pacific Island business by providing up-to-date market information through trade publications, industry guides, statistical databases and various industry contacts.

Trade promotion: To promote Pacific Island products and services for business development through trade events and various promotions such as a Pacificbizonline

Strategic Partnering & Relationship building: To collaborate with key stakeholders by developing new contacts and strengthening existing relationships.
