Background Information
The Marshall Islands is a sovereign republic associated with the USA in a Compact of Free Association.
As a small, low-lying atoll nation, environmental protection is essential for the Marshall Islands and in all cases, economic development must be consistent with national objectives to protect and preserve the natural environment from adverse impact and harm.
Skilled and unskilled labour is also readily available in the Marshall Islands and the minimum wage level is competitive. Non-Republic of Marshall Island citizens cannot purchase land, however Leaseholds are generally available for up to 50 years and are renewable.
