Background Information
Niue is a single uplifted coral island and under the Constitution Act 1974, it provides for self-government in free association with New Zealand, with New Zealand accepting most of the responsibilities for foreign relations and defence.

It is the primary aim of the Government of Niue to improve its capacity towards self sufficiency through maximum use of the limted resources the country is endowed with as well as those other resources that are accessible.

Priority will be given to investment proposals that directly or indirectly contribute to the National Development Goal and Objectives as set out in the Niue Intergrated Action Plan
1999 - 2002.

Proposals relating to organic farming, e-commerce, htorticultrue, timber milling, labour intensive light manufacturing and tourism are of paritcular interest to the Government.
