Background Information
The Cook Islands became a self governing country "in free association with New Zealand" in 1965, with NZ accepting the responsibility of international defence.

Business activities which contribute to the economic and social develpment of the Cook Islands are welcomed. More particularly, those investments that make a positive net contribution to economic development will be encouraged through the provision of incentives and concessions.
