Pacific Islands Trade & Invest entered a new era in August 2010 by changing renaming the organisation from the Pacific Islands Trade & Investment Commission and launching its new branding.
The fresh new look logo of 14 blue and green circles represents the forum countries, the diversity of the Pacific people, culture and the ocean.
Pacific Islands Trade and Invest was set up in 1988 as a trade commission to assist the Forum Island countries with the marketing of their products in NZ, both new and existing; to encourage investment in the Pacific and to promote Pacific Island tourism.
PT&I (formerly known as the Pacific Islands Trade & Investment Commission) is an agency of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat. The Forum Secretariat is a regional government organisation based in Suva, representing the interests of its member countries.
The 16 Pacific Island Forum members include , Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Republic of Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and New Caledonia and French Polynesia ( Tahiti ) came under its mandate in 1991.
The office is fully funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
